The Economic Salon
The Simon Fraser Economics Student Society
presents
The Economic Salon
-A forum of economic based discussion-
A salon is traditionally characterized as a space where a 'meeting of the minds' occurs, and where a variety of relevant issues are discussed. This salon will emphasize economic orientated conversation, debate, and education on a variety of topics, and from a myriad of perspectives amongst those majoring/minoring in economics, or those who are simply interested in the science of human action.
We at the ESS are aware of the demands of university students, and understand that any additional amount of reading or study on top of an already wholesome workload is an unfair proposal. The Economic Salon will possess a casual atmosphere where one will be able to discuss and/or read a series of pre- selected articles, position papers, blogs, and other material related to the weekly topic.
This is an opportunity to engage in the social science in which you have chosen to pursue academically, or are just passionate about, while providing contextual examples of the theories which you have been taught, all while enlightening each other on economic issues, policies, and solutions in which we were ignorant of.
